So it's officially released now -- new public sharing with secure public links, 'write' and 'read-only' permissions, password, etc. Ah, and the 'read-only' sharing moves to the Free plan. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/5ipqDHOg0nw

Hello friends

Hello friends, We have not created a new community site yet, so the announcements are still going here :) This update is mostly for Firefox users, we've finally created dedicated extensions for this browser and made some enhancements for the bookmarklet. Please check the blog post for details: http://blog.checkvist.com/post/179525651333/update-checkvist-bookmarklets Hope to get in touch soon, regarding the update about sharing :) Best,

Hello, friends!

Hello, friends! Now you can search/filter notes without hacks like "Expand all" and Ctrl+F. Please read more in our blog post. Best, http://blog.checkvist.com/post/176492689678/search-and-filter-notes

Finally, the last bugfixes from beta go live to production (and we have a couple of nominations from Capterra)

Hi, Friends

Hi, Friends, Here is a summary post of our 7-day run. Most things from it you probably know from our previous postings, though :) http://blog.checkvist.com/post/175573362093/snacking-week-7-features-7-daily-updates As you see, now you can switch to the 'Darcula' UI mode right in the 'options' ('oo') menu:

#7 - Sunday update: Don't be afraid to try Darcula The last server update of this crazy week took a bit more time then expected, but we've made it. Here it is, on the 'Settings' page of your profile https://checkvist.com/auth/profile#appearance

#6 - Saturday update. Sorting out the sort issues

Image
#6 - Saturday update. Sorting out the sort issues You know the feeling when you sweep something under the carpet - and then feel guilty till you finally clean the damn thing up. That's exactly why we needed to polish the 'Sort' before our '7 daily updates' challenge ends. Fix #1: Sort is not a 'view option', it's an action that can be performed on a list or a branch. Hence the new position -- under the 'more actions'. Fix #2: Sort is performed only on the task text, not hyperlinks, or any other syntax at the beginning of the line Fix #3: Here go features, finally :) Meet the new sort option: Sort by the last update time Fix #4 is actually a little gem of this update -- the 'Shallow sort' mode. Ever wished to sort just the top level tasks, not mixing up the small to-dos under them? That's it - just select the checkbox in the 'Sort' dialogue box. Do you like it? We do! :) Thanks, @ShaoWei, @Aaron, @Xavier and many others for the...

#5 - Friday update. Our holiday ends +11d from now

#5 - Friday update. Our holiday ends +11d from now We like the yesterday's update. Not only it brings keyboard navigation to the Due date dialogue window, but also some smart syntax for setting the dates within the dialogue: - Arrow-down to go from the Due text field to the calendar - Tab to jump to ASAP, Repeat, and Calendar options +5 to set a due date 5 days from now +5w is 5 weeks from now, and so on Hope you'll like it too :)

4 - Thursday update: Header styling and step-by-step unfocus

Image
4 - Thursday update: Header styling and step-by-step unfocus It rains over here, and the weather is not as hot as you can expect it in Istria in the end of June. Means more 'dreamwork' for us - a seaside cafe among old pine trees. Boy, why can't it be forever :) Yesterday's update is two-fold - a bugfix and a feature extension. 1) A fix eliminates a small but naughty issue. If you combine Markdown headers with bold and italic formatting, 'mh' + 'bb' or 'ii' shortcuts, you know it used to work only one way: formatting first, headers second. Do it another way, and formatting is broken. Now you can apply the shortcuts in any order - 'mh', 'ii', 'bb', all will result in predictable styling. 2) The feature update brings more intelligence to the 'focus' (aka 'hoist', aka 'pin') feature. Press 'shift-right' to leave just one task or a node on the screen, press 'shift-left' to un-focus, and...

3 day - Wednesday. Select a target parent when 'mm'moving a task

Image
3 day - Wednesday. Select a target parent when 'mm'moving a task Some features are plain usability enhancements that should have been done ages ago. Still, when you have a (very) limited number of working hands and hours, you have to choose, and some improvements wait for years to get implemented. This one waited for 3 years, but here it is, finally. Now you can select a target parent when moving a task with 'mm' shortcut. Just arrow-right to dig into the target list, and arrow-left to move a level back. Enjoy! :)

#2 Tuesday update: Refresh filter

Image
#2 Tuesday update: Refresh filter Snacking is bad, and 'No snacking' ( https://blog.intercom.com/first-rule-prioritization-no-sna …/) should be a strict rule when you prioritise product development. Still, we are on holidays, aren't we. And small issues you guys find and post to the community are begging to be fixed -- and seem like good candidates for the daily update plan. Yesterday we've updated the server with a small filter enhancement: an inplace filter refresh -- press [rf] and the filter will update without refreshing the whole page. The feature should be useful for those who work with large filtered lists, including ourselves. Hope you like it - and thanks @Konstantinos Kollias for the suggestion :)

#1 Monday update: Onboarding

#1 Monday update: Onboarding How much onboarding does a new customer need? Where is a line between 'not clear yet' and 'stop bothering me'? Checkvist has a rather simple onboarding - we are trying to explain the 'keyboard centric' concept of the app in a series of pop-up hints during a 'test drive'. HotJar monitoring shows that about 46% of all people who clicked 'Try now without registration' on the homepage are our target audience -- 'keyboarders' and confident users of outlining software. Still, we have only ~20% registration rate - where are the rest 26%? According to HotJar, temporary users are looking for 'pro' features - like attachments or multiselection. Seeing that they have to a) register first, and then b) start a free trial, they simply leave. With this update we allow temporary users to test all features, including 'pro' ones. Also, we've squeezed in a couple of new popup hints with small animation to dem...

Hello friends

Hello friends, We're working on the next update of Checkvist, and one of the changes there is a rework of copy/paste features. In the essence, we're now using desktop's clipboard to keep the copied data. This enables a couple of tricks: - you can paste plain text from the clipboard as a list item without going into 'editing' mode - you can paste images from the clipboard as attachments with a simple Ctrl+V on a selected list item (if you're PRO) I'd appreciate if you take a look how it works on https://beta.checkvist.com and comment here if you notice any glitches. As a side note, we've created a simple list with beta.checkvist.com changeLog. Not sure if it will last, it is a kind of experiment: https://checkvist.com/p/71313 Thanks :-) https://beta.checkvist.com

We've finally fixed the incorrect numbering brought by the latest Chrome update.

We've finally fixed the incorrect numbering brought by the latest Chrome update. Thanks to everyone who wrote about the problem!

Suppose I have tasks A, B, C due today.

Suppose I have tasks A, B, C due today. And say B is a (daily) repeating task. The iCal entry for today will come up as A, B, B, C (duplication of B, the repeating task). You don't see the duplication in future entries until you get to that day. So say tomorrow I've got to do E and F (and B which is repeating daily). Then today I see my tomorrow's task as B, E, F but when I return to it tomorrow it will be B, B, E, F. So, long story short, you've got a bug on how the repeating tasks are being pushed into iCal.

How to stop spammers, and not impair the good customer experience

I really don't like fixing such stuff, because it adds zero value for the normal customers. Still, have to fight it as well. Originally shared by Checkvist Not a 'feature update' but still important -- in order to stop spammers and save time on tidying up spammer accounts every now and then, we decided to use Google reCaptcha and email verification. Hope humans will not mind an extra click - and bots will get lost, finally. Privacy policy is updated, details are as usual, in the blog: http://blog.checkvist.com/post/166940442968/how-to-stop-spammers-and-not-impair-the-good http://blog.checkvist.com/post/166940442968/how-to-stop-spammers-and-not-impair-the-good

Do you like this update?

Do you like this update? We consider making a further step on the mobile app (create list + a native wrapper), but if you notice any bugs/problems on the main production site - please let us know! http://blog.checkvist.com/post/161727708808/editable-due-and-search-results-screens-plus

Hi everyone

Hi everyone, I have a couple of news for you: - Checkvist is running on a new server (we migrated a week ago, so far so good) - On https://beta.checkvist.com you can try 'time estimation' feature ( http://checkvist.uservoice.com/forums/2121-general/suggestions/82564-add-estimated-hours-for-completion-to-track-time ): - Mark a task with #30m or #4h or #2d tag to set estimate - On the parent task, press 'pc' for progress counter - Checkvist will show summary estimate of non-completed tasks (for those tasks where estimate is set) - Use popup over estimate to see total time estimate, including completed tasks. Feedback is welcome :) Best,

Couple of suggestions:

Couple of suggestions: 1. Provide additional background colors - yellow would be useful for me. 2. Allow people to be assigned to tasks while their invitations are still "pending"

We've added a simple word count feature to Checkvist.
