I'd like to use Checkvist but to start off I have to import a large outline from a Google Doc.  I can't find a way to do this and maintain the hierarchy, etc.  I've tried text export from Google (loses hierarchy) and even imported into OmniOutliner and then exported in OPML, and that didn't work either.

Ideas?  Thanks - matt

  1. Hi,
I've just imported 4000+ items to a Checkvist from OPML format. It took more than a minute, but it worked. Could you send me a sample of OPML so I could take a look what could be wrong?
    kirsa@checkvist.com,
    Thanks!

  2. Thanks, I found a workaround.  BTW, is there a way to see a history of revisions to an outline, or can I only monitor changes via email notifications?  Thanks - matt

  3. Hi Matt, I'm glad you found a workaround. Could you please tell me, what the problem was? May be, we could improve import code somehow.

Regarding history of revisions - unfortunately, Checkvist doesn't have this feature yet, here is the corresponding request: http://checkvist.uservoice.com/forums/2121-general/suggestions/113891-save-multiple-revision

Checkvist PRO offers daily backups, though, you can enable them in the settings. A backup file is an archive with OPML-exported lists, so you'll have at least day-to-day history of the changes.

    Hope this helps,

  4. Kirill - thanks for the followup.  The problem I was having was related to incompatibilities between Google Docs, Omni, and Word.  I finally just used a text export and used Find and Replace to delete the bullets, etc.  Kind of amazing that the interoperability between the various outline tools is so low.
