I am really loving Checkvist but I will say, the mobile experience leaves a lot to be desired. I'm using the official mobile interface on my iPhone, but the UI/UX is very hard to work with.
1) Is this being cleaned up?
2) Is there a cleaner, official mobile app on the horizon?
3) Does anybody know of any api-driven alternatives for accessing Checkvist from Mobile?
I use Checkvist for work but was hoping to be able to use it for a shared shopping list with my wife but after setting it up for her, I can't really expect her to use it due to the mobile experience. She would be frustrated walking through a store trying to use the current mobile interface.
Thanks for any insight you can give!

Hello Jacob,
ReplyDeleteCould you please elaborate a bit more on "UI/UX is very hard to work with"? The matter is that it is quite possible to create a native app with awful user experience as well, and it is possible to improve UX for non-native app. What are the biggest problems with the current app?
As for alternative apps, there is Checkvistle, which is third-party app using Checkvist API.
Best,
Kirill Maximov Thanks for the reply. In a nutshell, here are some examples. From Checkvist, to Workflowy, to Wunderlist (which I like the best as far as mobile UI/UX goes for task management) The main thing is that when using it for tasks on mobile, it looks very cluttered. I love the simple, tactile, checkbox feel. And I preface this by saying I am focusing in on those who are using it on mobile for tasks, outlining and organizing uses may look different, but I'm putting on the mobile shopping list glasses.
ReplyDeleteI tried Checkvistle, and it helps a little, but there is no way to get rid of the ads, and more importantly, it doesn't support tags, which you can see we use and why we use them.

Hmm. Looks like Google+ removed my reply. :-(

Right now, it is possible to show checkboxes on mobile only for subtasks of some task.
ReplyDeleteI.e. if you create a list item
[]Buy (with prefix [ ])
and put several sub-items, they will be shown with checkboxes. On desktop, we have "list style" option where you can show checkboxes for the whole list, but on mobile we don't have such an option yet.
Still, this is a workaround, may work for you :)
