Would it be possible to show the next due date right away when I use "cd" against a repeating task?

Would it be possible to show the next due date right away when I use "cd" against a repeating task? It would be a lot more useful to see the next due date right away instead of that recycle icon, as it does currently.

  1. Hello Xavier B, right now it is possible to press 'cd' twice and the second 'cd' will remove repeating due as well. With your approach, it will not be possible.

Now, you can always press 'dr' and see next 3 due dates in the dialog.

    Would it suit you?

  2. Hi,

I'm not proposing to use "cd" twice, just that right now the first time I use "cd" against a repeating task it shows a blank circle, and an hour or 2 later it shows the proper new date calculated by the recurring engine. All I'm asking for is that once I use "cd" (the first time) against a repeating task is to see (right away) the new date.

I know about "dr" - I just want to get feedback right away without having to go to the repeating screen.

Does that make sense? If not I'll try to make screen mock.

  3. Hello Xavier B, right now it is already possible to use 'cd' twice, it is a feature of Checkvist, and some people get used to it.

If we implement what you're suggesting, this feature will be broken.

Your suggestion makes sense, but it conflicts with the existing feature.

    Best,

  4. Not quite sure how it would break using "cd" twice, I expect that the second time I use "cd" it would completely clear any due date, just like it does now. The only difference is that the first time "cd" is use, update the due date immediately instead of showing that empty circle. Does that help?

  5. Right now cd command sees if there is a due date on a task and if not, removes the repeating due. If the first due will just change the due date, this criteria cannot be used (and it is not quite obvious which one to use).

  6. I see, so my suggestion causes problems with UI feedback, i.e., the user doesn't know that after the first "cd" another "cd" would remove the due date entirely. Is that right?

Here are a couple of suggestions to get around that:
1/ Append a "Next: " to the due date after the first "cd" so that it's obvious that another "cd" would remove the due altogether
2/ Make it look different, like changing the due date to italics for example
    3/ Both #1 and #2 together

  7. Thanks for the suggestions. Still unsure about good and clear UI solution, though :( Have to work on it further, so cannot promise a quick fix.
