Updating the `due: now` search results
Updating the `due: now` search results
I often use the `due: now` search to see what I have pending
While in this search i will move items to tomorrow by selecting them and typing `tm`
I then want to see what remains as `due: now`
Is it possible for this to dynamically update, or for a shortcut to 'refresh search results' ?
Cheers

Hello Konstantinos Kollias,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for the delay with the answer. It is possible to update such a page, but only on the Due screen. Currently, Checkvist correctly should update the filter and the list of tasks, but only on beta.checkvist.com - Checkvist: Keyboard-centric outliner and task manager (same login/password as the main site).
There was a bug when filter state was not kept on the Due page, fixed on the beta site now.
On the global search results, the search index is updated once per 10 minutes only.
Hope this helps,
Hello Kirill Maximov
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update!
I am not sure I managed to explain the issue correctly
Please see the example screenshot below. I searched for `due: now` and then updated `Deploy to environment Y` from today to tomorrow.
So far I find the `due` screen that you mention very hard to use as my checklist items need their context to be understood, e.g. that the `deploy to environment Y` relates to `project C`
Doesn't seem I can add a second screenshot to a post, but compared to how the list view search works, the following happens on the `due` page:
- The text `Under: Demo list > Workstream B > Project C` is displayed under the `deploy to environment Y` note
-- While the information is there, it is not as easy and fast to disseminate compared to the tree view in the list page search.
- I cannot add any new checklist items in the due view, so I need to be changing from window to window
-- Defeats the purpose of having shortcut keys to quickly take and update notes.
For the above reasons I have all my notes in one list and do not use the `due` page, but rather use search within the list.
For the initial topic I could suggest some options
- Do nothing, not affecting many people?
- When a due date change is detected trigger an update to the search results
- Add a shortcut to update the current search's results
Best regards

Hello Konstantinos Kollias,
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for the detailed explanation of the problem. Sounds quite reasonable, we'll try to decide on a good solution, and your suggestions are really helpful. So far I'm thinking about kind of optional 'refresh' shortcut, but it also requires some visual hint. Probably, should be united with the "Undo" line.
Thanks a lot again, will let you know on the progress.
Best,
I also wanted a shortcut (aside from F5 browser refresh, that takes too long). My current workaround is to pick an item, focus to it, then focus back (i.e., shift + > then shift + <). That works, and it will clear items not in matching the search terms, but I'd prefer a proper shortcut (can I suggest "r" for refresh) to trigger a refresh.
ReplyDeleteXavier B Thanks for the tip :) The shortcut 'r' would not work as we already have 'rd' shortcut, and we cannot use single letter shortcut if they intersect with two-letters with a starting letter. Maybe, 'rf' will work, for [refresh filter]?
ReplyDeleteI think "rf" would work for me :)
ReplyDeleteDone, on production, see plus.google.com - #2 Tuesday update: Refresh filter Snacking is bad, and 'No snacking' (https:...
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for the suggestion!
Kirill Maximov thanks for implementing this! Works like a charm from using it briefly! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Thanks :)
