Hello, friends!
Hello, friends!
Do you have large lists in Checkvist account? If so, could you please compare list loading/filtering performance on https://beta.checkvist.com and https://checkvist.com - do you notice any difference?
Thanks,

Hi Kirill Maximov
ReplyDeleteMy largest list has 618 items, average times for loading:
checkvist.com: 4.2 seconds
beta.checkvist.com: 2.8 seconds
HTH
Hello Mark Dickens, I did not expect such a difference on such a small list, in fact. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteKirill Maximov small list ?! It's my life's work ! 😀
ReplyDeleteAbout 2000 items, 5s vs 3s for me
ReplyDeleteThanks, Xavier B! Sounds not bad.
ReplyDeleteI recently started splitting large lists into separate lists to speed up loading time, but that may not be necessary any longer:
ReplyDelete* Items: 9981
* Standard: 22.74 seconds
* Beta: 6.05 seconds
Huge difference! I even had to increase the "Unresponsive Script" warning time in my browser because it was popping up before the list finished loading on the standard site.
Great work, though I won't complain if you're able to shave the loading time down even more ;)
Sol M Thanks a lot for the check. I agree, 6 seconds is still alot, probably we need to load data incrementally to achieve further speed up, this is the next level, for the future :)
ReplyDeleteHi Xavier B, Sol M
ReplyDeleteI'd be really interested what sorts of things you're doing in large lists like these.
I've been archiving done items in a single list (~3000 items) but even with ~600 items in my main project list I find it challenging to revisit so many items to check they are not missed.
I user Checkvist color for priority items and dates when I want items to surface into focus.
Got any top tips to manage many list items?
FYI: the update is on production site, blog.checkvist.com - Editable Due and Search results screens, plus performance boost
ReplyDeleteMark Dickens I use tags such as "active", "current", "awaiting", etc. to keep abreast of the status of various sub-projects in a list. The tag(s) is added to the sub-project's main node, making it easy to see the status of all projects by searching for the desired tag (e.g. all "current" or "active" projects).
ReplyDeleteI also use a separate "Now" list with links to projects within various lists. This is what I use to plan and organize what I'm going to work on, and then click into the linked sub-list to get to the details of what I need to do for that task.
